Manchester United retained their top spot in the Premier League till midweek as they beat Sunderland 2-0 at Old Trafford thanks to a brace from league top-scorer Dimitar Berbatov. It was a frustrating display from the Red Devils, who despite creating so many chances & dictating the game, failed to convert most of the opportunities that came by. The Black Cats, who were without key players Danny Welbeck & Lee Cattermole, never seemed to be in the game & ultimately paid the price. Man United will travel to play Birmingham next on Tuesday.
How The Rivals Fared This Week

Rafael Van der Vaart inspired Tottenham Hotspur to a 2-1 win over Aston Villa at Villa Park through his double strike for the London club. Marcus Albrighton threatened to split points but it was Spurs who took home 3 points at full time.
